Well today was supposed to entail
going to a church that Talihun goes to.
However as Karen mentioned yesterday, we were cautioned on going out as
there was a planned religious rally which was hard to understand. The best I can make out it was a rally for
the opposition of the government. It was
heard someplace that the government may try and breakup the rally so could get
messy.
We awoke early to a message on a
loud speaker. There was a truck going
around the area drumming up support for the rally. Ibssa was up by 6:15 on a Sunday
morning. That’s just crazy as your
supposed to sleep in until 8am usually.
But Ibssa doesn’t seem to care what day it is, he’s always up by 6:30.
While we were having breakfast
the truck with loud speakers made another tour through. We could look up to the main street from our
balcony and from the hallway window. We
could see many people walking and running down the main street. We believe they
were all going to the rally that was in the square.
As we couldn’t go out it was a
pretty relaxed day.
Ibssa and I chilled out watching
cartoons for about an hour and a half.
We went outside after that to kick the ball around. That pretty well
burnt up the morning.
Karen had prepared lunch when we
came in. Real Canadian food – toasted tomato
on a bun, Kraft dinner, strawberries and watermelon. Karen had been looking for watermelon for a
while but they always seem so small.
Dave and Heather found a fair size one yesterday when they were out in
the country.
After lunch it was time for a
nap. Ibssa didn’t quite get his way
during lunch so he was pouting. When I
told him it was nap time, the tears came down but we didn’t break so nap time it
was. I think he was out in 5 minutes.
Candy and Rob came down just as
we were putting Ibssa down. Candy made
Karen a greek salad that Karen said was delicious. I’ll take her word for it as olives and feta
cheese is stuff that doesn’t get in my mouth.
Ibssa got up around 3:30 and we
asked around if it was safe to leave the grounds. We were told that it should be so we all took
a small walk. It was really appreciated
as it was a beautiful day. It rained
early this morning but it was sunny all day.
Something we haven’t seen much since we got here.
The walk wasn’t too long so we
planned on going for supper later. A
little more cartoons and outside play and it was suppertime. Rob and Candy decided not to go for supper as
Ephrem was getting tired. Karen, Ibssa
and I went anyways as we promised Ibssa some Injera. We just went down the road to Beemnet, a
local hangout. It kind of has a Kelsey’s
atmosphere. It was packed and got busier
the later it got. I think it took an
hour and a half to get our food and eat.
The food is good if you get what you ordered (language barrier). Karen and I weren’t that hungry so we ordered
tibs. Tibs is pieces of stewed meat in
the typical sauce served with injera….I think, what we got were french fries.
Oh well, they weren’t bad either. We
ordered some tibs for Rob and Candy. They
don’t get to eat out much because of the baby.
Well it’s 8:00 so it’s time for Ibssa’s bed
