Well it has been a complete 24 hours with our new little
guy. Today would be a fairly relaxing
day with just a quick trip out. I guess
I was wrong as we were out all day til 6pm.
While we were at the orphanage we played close attention to the food
that Ibssa seemed to like so we could make sure he was still eating. Boy, we really didn’t need to know - it seems
like he’ll eat anything. Noodles, green
beans, tuna on a pita for supper.
Breakfast was juice, oatmeal, Nutella on toast, peanut butter on a spoon
LOL – Karen thought he wanted to dip his finger in it but he decided to just
eat the clump of peanut butter, banana; breadsticks for snack; spaghetti, some
hamburger and fries with ketchup, hamburger bun with ketchup, finger dipped in
ketchup; I think he likes ketchup. I think the only thing he didn’t eat was
oranges.
We got picked up at 10am which of course was 10:45. If nothing else, African has a lot of
time. No matter what it is, you’ll
always be waiting. All 3 Canadian
couples were going together to do paperwork.
We went to our agencies Ethiopian office (Kids-Link formerly
Imagine) to complete the 2nd part of immigration papers. These will be filed and a birth certificate
issued to Ibssa Paul Gresty. In order to
get his birth certificate, the father’s name appears as the 2nd
name. We will then have to change his
name later to Ibssa Jemal Gresty. Jemal
being his current surname.
Martha, the agency representative, will be sent a new birth
certificate and will complete the passport paperwork and then we will have to
go to passport office with Ibssa. Martha
estimated this to be sometime the week of August 26th probably
towards end. Once that paperwork is
filed, we would expect that it would take 4-5 weeks to receive the visa and
then Karen & Ibssa can come back home.
We decided to go for lunch about 2pm just down the street
from our friends guesthouse. While we
were there it rained again. I think it
has rained everyday since getting here.
It usually rains in afternoon and then again throughout the night. I think this was the hardest rain we have
seen since we got here. There is always
too much rain for ditches to take it.
While we sat having lunch, you could see the water running down the road
like a river. It was at least 6 inches
deep maybe closer to 8. The rain
subsided before we completed lunch and was just a light drizzle by the time we
left.
Karen, Heather and Dave went to pharmacy and the bank while
I took Ibssa, Faith and Thomas (Heathers children) back to their
guesthouse. By the time they returned
and we waited for our ride, another 2 1/2 hours must have passed. As a new parent moment, I was able to finally
say good poo poo while we were there. A
win-win – plumbing is working, and the smell was at their guesthouse –
LOL. The kids watched Madazcar 3 on the
computer and Ibssa did all he could to keep his eyes open – he really needed
his nap. By the time we got to our
guesthouse it was 6pm. Ibssa had a quick
bite and then time for a nap. We tried
to wake him up at 7 but it was a no go.
He was out. I carried him into
his bed and all he did was barely open his eyes and then was back out for the
night. It might be an early morning.
Sorry, no pics today but I tried uploading videos with no
luck L
God Bless and thank you for all your prayers and positive
comments and emails.
